Dental Exams and Cleanings
At times, you may be too busy to schedule a dental checkup twice a year. However, setting aside one hour every six months can help stop minor issues from blowing up into painful, complex, and expensive problems.
Call a dentist near you for affordable exams and cleanings today.
What Regular Exams and Cleanings Can Do for You
Detailed dental checkups can bring to light hidden cavities, early decay, cracks, chips, and fractures in your teeth. If your dentist notices problems in your teeth or gums, he or she may suggest further diagnosis before recommending treatment options.
While regular brushing and flossing can do wonders for oral hygiene, we do need a professional cleaning every once in a while. Our toothbrushes cannot reach certain corners, nooks, and crannies in the mouth, and these areas (the backs of your teeth, for example) are more prone to infection and cavities.
Our dentist will examine your teeth, gums, lips, cheeks, jaws, and face for abnormalities. daily DENTAL & bracesbar also offers reliable oral cancer screenings.
What Happens During an Exam and Cleaning
Exams and cleanings typically take no more than an hour to complete. If you’re visiting us for the first time, you will need to fill out your personal information before we start. The dentist will first examine the patient and:
- Evaluate your oral cavity for signs of decay, cavities, tooth loss and gum disease
- Check the alignment of your jaw for underbite or overbite problems
- Take a digital image or X-rays if required for more detailed diagnosis
- Check for lesions, sores, or white patches, which may signal the early onset of oral cancer. If there are any signs, we may refer you to a specialist or send a sample for a biopsy.
Once the checkup is over, our hygienist will take over. Using handheld instruments and a small mirror, we will deep-clean between your teeth and gum line and remove all tartar, plaque, and calculus. You can expect to leave our offices with a super-clean set of teeth.
